What happens if I exceed my mileage allowance?

When you finally return the vehicle at the end of the contract, you will be charged for any excess mileage above your contractual allowance. It is worth bearing in mind that mileage allowance is a pro-rata total so if you return the vehicle early, your allowance will be based on the number of months you have had the vehicle.

If you take a contract with a mileage allowance of 10,000 per annum and return the vehicle after 18 months, your contractual allowance at that point will be 15,000 miles.

If you take a contract with a mileage allowance of 10,000 per annum and return the vehicle after 36 months, your contractual allowance at that point will be 30,000 miles.

What happens in the event that I need to terminate the leasing contract?

In the event that you wish to return the vehicle prior to the minimum leasing period, there will be a termination charge. This has to be calculated as required and can vary between 50% and 100% of the outstanding payments, based on the true depreciation of a particular vehicle. Typically, we find that customers can expect the termination charge to be no more than 50% of outstanding payments, particularly if the minimum lease period is more than 1 year away.

Please note that if you default on your monthly payments, this will be noted on your credit file and may affect your ability to obtain credit facilities in the future.

What happens with speeding tickets and parking fines?

If you receive a parking ticket, our advice is simply to pay it as quickly as possible. In the event that you do not make payment, the finance company will receive correspondence from the prosecuting party and will pay the fine on your behalf. They will then recharge it back to you along with a small administration fee.

In the event of a speeding fine, the finance company will inform the prosecuting party that you are the lessee and provide them with your personal details.

If I have poor credit, can I lease the car in somebody else’s name - ie friend or family member?

This is not a facility that we offer or recommend (excluding a legal marital partner). The lease agreement should be in the name of the main driver who is also insured to drive the vehicle. The monthly payments should also come out of the applicants bank account.
